The
following is a small history of our gallery which had been around
for 40 years until we closed on January 15th 2008.
With its first public
gallery in 1968, Frances Aronson Fine Art established a tradition
of exhibiting major works of art.
In the beginning
collaboration with international colleagues made possible the
exhibition of Impressionist Paintings by artists such as Monet,
Renoir, Sisley and Pissarro; British
Sculptures with works by Moore
and Hepworth and Contemporary Masters including paintings of
Morris Louis, Wesselman, Warhol and Motherwell.
One
Man Exhibitions
of Chillida,
Dine, Giacometti and Rodin; a Surrealist
Exhibition with
works of De Chirico, Delvaux, Tanguy and Magritte, and also exhibits
of the classic works of Braque, Matisse and Picasso.
In more recent years the
owners have spent much more time and effort in acquiring French
Barbizon paintings for their gallery as well as the French and
American Impressionists. These
include: Decamps, Delpy,
Diaz de la Pena, Glackens,
Heade, Lebourg, Loiseau, Luce, Montézin, Monticelli, Renoir, and
Sisley.
In Spring of 2006, we
were fortunate to have the founder of the Maastricht Art Fair, Mr.
Robert Noortman of Noortman Master Paintings, loan us a beautiful
exhibit which he also attended in Atlanta
to meet our friends and clients.
